    The journey begins with the ‘case’ of Milan which has been used as an example of “laboratory of the modern”, whose architectonic and city planning affairs of the last 100 years – but also several key moments in its past history – demonstrate the particular means employed by projects with a large transformative role compared to the pre-existing urban structure. From historical Milan to the city that hosts Expo 2015, an example of great territorial transformation over recent years which will be observed in its various content and present and future developments.

    Expo 2015 – a laboratory for the environment
    This section presents the work-in-progress of the 2015 Expo in Milan.
    In “2030 EXPOst”, some young architects envisage possible future metamorphoses of the area of the Expo after the conclusion of the world’s fair.

    ‘Matadero exhibits a selection of projects participating to the international call for ideas for the reinterpretation of the Tahrir Square in Cairo. To celebrate the launch of the revolutionary movement that was born and continues to develop in Egypt, the international platform  ICARCH launched the competition ‘A New Tahrir Square’, and participants from around the world could make a proposals for a new concept for the Tahrir Square. In this exhibition we can enjoy and analyze the work provided numerous teams.’

    Founded in 2011, AIDS Memorial Park (AMP) is a coalition of individuals and organizations dedicated to the recognition and preservation of the ongoing history of the AIDS crisis.
    To generate inspiring concepts for a memorial park, AMP launched an international design competition in November 2011 sponsored by Architizer and Architectural Record. In just six weeks, 475 proposals were submitted from more than 26 U.S. states and 32 countries on six continents. Openfabric was awarded with Honorable Mention.
