As Safiyyah Park
Medina, KSA
As Safiyyah Park, a 5,000 sqm public garden within the As Safiyyah Museum, is located in the heart of Al Madinah, in close proximity to the Prophet’s Mosque. The project reactivates the memory of Alsafiyyah—once a historic palm garden known for its shade, water, and peaceful atmosphere within the dense urban fabric of the city.
At the center of the development lies the garden we designed: a contemporary interpretation of this lost oasis, conceived as the main spatial and symbolic heart of the project. Protected from the surrounding urban intensity, the landscape offers a sequence of calm and immersive spaces where visitors can gather, pause, and reflect.
Palm groves, water features, stepped planted terraces, and the careful use of light and shadow shape an environment rooted in the ecological and cultural identity of Al Madinah.
The repetitive experience of stepped terraces and the geometric rhythm of palm groves—with their strong symbolic presence—define the garden as a space of ritual, contemplation, and shared spirituality.
The garden reconnects architecture, public life, and heritage, transforming the site into a place of refuge and encounter. More than an open space, the landscape acts as living infrastructure—bringing climate comfort, memory, and civic value back to the center of the city.

A cascading water feature accompanies the visitor’s journey along the descending staircase, guiding them underground where the experience quietly unfolds within the museum.
