The landscape of the new Spedali Civili Hospital in Brescia is structured around the CareRing, a continuous green loop of more than one kilometre that serves as the project's primary public and ecological infrastructure, as well as the organizing framework for the entire hospital campus. It integrates mobility, logistics and landscape into a single spatial system, separating technical flows below ground while creating a continuous network of accessible open spaces above.

The CareRing reconnects the hospital campus with the city through tree-lined squares, therapeutic gardens and everyday public spaces. Here, landscape is conceived not merely as an amenity, but as an essential component of the healthcare environment—supporting orientation, movement and social interaction while giving spatial expression to the principles of One Health.

The landscape improves the microclimate, enhances biodiversity and provides a diverse sequence of outdoor environments for patients, families, healthcare professionals, researchers and students. Extending beyond the hospital boundaries to connect with the surrounding urban and ecological networks, it transforms the campus into an open civic infrastructure where health, nature and public life become inseparable.

A continuous Green Ring becomes the ecological and organizational backbone of the new hospital campus.
